  1. Just wanted to praise Orestis Karnezis for his consistency of playing in one of the top leagues worldwide & at a club of whom isn't winning trophies but trying to survive most of the time & having to his goals tested regularly. I thought it's been a bit quiet here recently! There are a few with not a positive bone in their body & that thrive on negativity.
  2. Mitroglou is at Benfica for this season on loan from Fulham so there might not be a next season with Benfica. If he keeps scoring goals regularly & stays injury free there won't be a shortage of clubs wanting him for the 2016/2017 season. Fulham & Benfica would be playing cat & mouse at the moment. Fulham are trying to get back as much as they can for what they had paid Olympiacos for Mitroglou, thinking his value might go up with each goal he scores at Benfica. On the other hand Benfica are looking for a bargain & not wanting to spend anything near what Fulham paid for him.
  3. A few years ago the Greek Super League was a much better league than the Belgian Pro League but in the last 4-5 years although Olympiacos has stayed at the same level the rest especially between the 2nd best til mid table have dropped big time that it's not funny & the Belgian Pro League is now a better league. http://www.sport-fm.gr/article/podosfairo/gkolara-me-guristo-o-karelis/3135463
  4. Nikos Karelis came on as a 77' minute substitute for Alejandro Pozuelo when the score was 1-1 in his debut for Genk whom were also with 10 men from the 35' minute due to a 2nd red card & in the 88' minute Karelis scored the winner to give Genk a 2-1 home win over Waregem.
  5. Olympiacos have quiet a good record against Belgium teams in the very few times that they have had to play against in any European competition well over 20 years. 2009/2010 UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Olympiacos 2 Standard de Liege 1 Standard de Liege 2 Olympiacos 0 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Anderlecht 0 Olympiacos 3 Olympiacos 3 Anderlecht 1
  6. Lost the hunger of being a professional footballer IMO. Played & scored goals in the Dutch Eredivisie, EPL, SPL, Europa League, UCL which included big money deals with Manchester City & Glasgow Celtic where he won trophy after trophy. About 80 caps for Greece which included playing in two UEFA Euro & two FIFA World Cup tournaments scoring in the Euro 2012 QF against Germany & famously took Greece to the last 16 of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup by winning & scoring the penalty in stoppage time to beat Ivory Coast 2-1. He has been a professional footballer not only from the age of 16 away from home in the Netherlands but grew up in that environment where his father was also a professional footballer.
  7. I would love to see Torosidis playing in the EPL at a team like Liverpool FC. He would be suited as a hardworking right back whom loves to attack.
  8. Thanasis Papazoglou whom has scored 5 goals from 20 appearances at K.V. Kortrijk so far let his team down with a straight red card in the 25th minute against Club Brugge which ended in a 1-4 home loss. Michalis Sifakis remained on the bench & yet to make a league appearance for K.V. Kortrijk.
  9. I'm sure he is a free agent after being released.
  10. Seriously, what does Tziolis bring to the team? Vyntra & Athanasiadis just like Tziolis have had enough opportunities to prove themselves at international level. They wouldn't make a impact in my local over 35's team. KREATA!
  11. We could just hope that Greece were saving it's best starting 11 for the Turkey match & those ahrista kreata like Tziolis, Vyntra, Athanasiadis & co never allowed anywhere near a national team jersey again.
  12. Feraios 0 Pas Acheron Kanalaki 1 25 October 2015. First win of the 2015/2016 season. http://www.joinsports.gr/h-%CE%BD%CE%AF%CE%BA%CE%B7-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%B1%CF%87%CE%AD%CF%81%CF%89%CE%BD-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CE%BD%CE%B1%CE%BB%CE%B1%CE%BA%CE%AF%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%B5%CF%80%CE%AF-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CF%81%CE%AE%CE%B3/''>http://www.joinsports.gr/h-%CE%BD%CE%AF%CE%BA%CE%B7-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%B1%CF%87%CE%AD%CF%81%CF%89%CE%BD-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CE%BD%CE%B1%CE%BB%CE%B1%CE%BA%CE%AF%CE%BF%CF%85-%CE%B5%CF%80%CE%AF-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-%CF%81%CE%AE%CE%B3/'>http://www.joinsports.gr/h-
  13. We have plenty of proven players but not in the last 15 months at national team level. Karnezis when not playing injured has show to be one of the best in the Serie A. Mitroglou was on fire before he got injured after the Romania WCQ in 2013 & starting to score goals for fun again. Manolas, Sokratis, Kyriakos & Torosidis have been as good as any defender in their position when in form. Samaris, Maniatis, Kone, Holebas & Lazaros have showed they can mix it with best at some time in the past. Fetfatzidis, Ninis, Fortounis & others have shown glimpses of class in the past.
  14. The experience gained by players whom are playing at all various clubs in different countries & with limited time together is priceless. The understanding & combinations start to jell the confidence comes back the momentum starts to build into a winning culture. It's hilarious reading the same clowns whom think that Greece has a factory of 21 year old star footballers ready to step up into the national team. Too much PlayStation.
  15. Pride, momentum, confidence, experience, rankings & much more to play for.
  16. Interesting at what direction Greece go for this match. I believe Greece need to play the team that will be for the World Cup Qualifying. Momentum & confidence will play a important roll just as it did for Greece in the 2-2 draw against England in 2001.
  17. Greece have plenty of experienced players even with the departure of all those players. Karnezis, Soktatis, Manolas, Torosidis, Holebas, Maniatis, Samaris, Tziolis, Kone, Lazaros, Ninis, Fetfatzidis & Mitroglou have all played at a FIFA World Cup & a few at two plus Euro tournaments. I think they lacked direction, leadership & passion in this past 15 months.
  18. Heidelberg United is one of the Greek clubs in Melbourne, Australia which used to be Heidelberg Alexander & known by it's Greek community as Megas Alexandros back in the days of the old National Soccer League (NSL) in Australia & did rivals of South Melbourne Hellas. These days the A-League is the top league in Australia & then each State has it's State League competition & Heidelberg United is one of the top teams in the Victorian Premier State League which has recently finished but they are in the Quarter Finals of the FFA Cup.
  19. Kostas Katsouranis has signed a short deal with Victorian Premier League club side Heidelberg United (Australia). http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/09/15/ffa-cup-minnow-signs-greece-star-katsouranis
  20. If only Kostas Mitroglou could get the same service from the midfield & the flanks for the national team. Mitroglou goal 1-0 http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x36duoo_1-0-konstantinous-mitroglou-goal-benfica-v-belenenses-11-09-2015-hd_sport Mitroglou goal 4-0
  21. Guss Hiddink only recently stepped down as coach of the Netherlands but is 68 which might be too old???
  22. Guus Hiddink maybe for 2 years because of his age. It's time that someone like Bouchalakis, Vellios, Katidis, Diamantakos or Tatos took it up to world class levels & not that "had a lot of potential" or "could of been".
  23. Vyntra, Katsouranis, Tziolis, Avraam, Moras, Gekas, Salpingidis thank you for your services. Coach: At the moment Greece have accaretaker coach so that is one thing to be taken care of. Goalkeepers: Karnezis & Kapino plus one other on the road to Russia 2018. Central Defenders: Manolis, Sokratis, Kyriakos Pap, Siovas with a few potential youngsters. Right Back/Wing Back: Torosidis with Maniatis as back up & can double up as a backup defensive midfielder. Kitsiou, Bakakis & few other potentials need to show they are ready to take on the big boys. Left Back/Wing Back: Stafylidis, Holebas, Tasoulis, Tzavellas at the moment. Defensive Midfielders: Samaris, Maniatis, Tachtsidis, Lagos at the moment. Attacking Midfielders/Wingers: Ninis, Kone, Fetfatzidis, Fortounis, Lazaros, Mavrias, Mantalos & quiet few potentials whom need a lot of improvement. Forwards/strikers: Mitroglou & a lot of could be's..
