Here's a link from Facebook's Dish Network Greek TV page. I wasn't able to paste the image on the forum here. But if you click on this link, you will like it very much.

Go to the forum topic "Mega Cosmos being added back to Dish Network". It was reported on Facebook on the Dish Network Greek TV page.Where did you hear that Mega Cosmos was returning to Dish Networks? That is welcome news if true.
-
DKSat, do you have any info on a launch date of Mega's return on Dish? This was a good move by GMC getting Mega Cosmos back on Dish Network.
Everyone in the US subscribes to on of the Greek packages on Dish. With satellite people have more choices American HD programing, local channels , PVR, extra receivers.
With IPTV you do not have the choices that you have with satellite. People that subscribe to one of the Greek packages on Dish and have EllasTv for Mega most of them or all will cancel.

I always thought Alpha distributed their channel on their own. At least someone mentioned they did on this forum. I could be wrong.GMC all ready have 2 channels on Dish Network ERT World and Alpha Sat.

Maybe this is the reason the Greek Elite package is being increased from $24.99 to $29.99 around December 6. If DKSat says it's true, then I truly believe it. Will Star follow? RIK Sat is still available online for free.

This channel is a nice change since all the other networks' programming in Greece is basically a joke.I don't know about you guys but I am really enjoying this channel. My TV is glued to this channel 24/7.
-
I wonder what reason ANT1 Prime was pulled. It was part of the deal ANT1 & Dish signed a year and a half ago. Dish must have had an escape clause for that channel or something.
-
Greek Cinema logo now appears on int'l page of Dish's site in a list alongside other newly launched int'l channels. Not listed on Greek pkg site yet.
-
Looks like the ANT1 website has shut down its ANT1 Prime page. But is this Greek Cinema channel even owned by ANT1?
-
Is it just me or are they playing the same movies in a loop? Hopefully it's just temporary, otherwise, it's like watching the movie channel version of GMTV. Remember them? Music videos in a loop.
-
Just channel surfing and noticed ANT1 Prime is now Greek Cinema. The change must have happened this afternoon because earlier in the day it was still ANT1 Prime and was playing a Proino Kafe rerun. Currently it's showing a Ρενα Βλαχοπουλου movie. DKSat, did you know this was coming?

How many boxes can you have? Or do you have to pay separate subscriptions for each box? Unfortunately that's what Wherevertv told me a while back. Is it the same for Ellastv?
-
What is?On its way back!!!!
-
Totally agree with you!
Apparently I am not the only one.The box is fast maybe SOME customers do not have the proper internet connection to view the content ....
I have a 35 mbit connection with the only other device running in the house is a laptop. I never claimed that I had a problem with the connection or that the picture of the channels have any problem or that the picture freezes.
I just said that some of the channels (MEGA COSMOS, STAR INTERNATIONAL, MEGA CYPRUS, RIK SAT and a couple of others have a video - sound sync problem.
Either fix the problem or don't offer the channels in the package.
Also there are more features that are being tested on the new box...
Which is catchup tv... You will be able to go back 14 days on various channels from Greece.
As far as EPG is concerned if customers arent happy we will change it to the liking of the customer.
Instead of developing/testing new features why don't you spent time fixing the existing ones first.
The EPG does need some work. A simple channel/time grid will be perfect.
Dont be surprised when going into a Germanos in Greece or a kotsovoulos, and its mandatory to get Ellas TV built in your TV. Hint Hint
Are you saying that we would have to get a TV from Kostovolos in Greece and bring it here in the US in order to watch our Greek channels? :)
Look at NOVA perfect example $75 a subscription in Greece, government got involved and told NOVA, you need to step up with the future.... and guess what Nova Eppegia comes out for as low as $9.99 (that is IPTV for NOVA by the way)
These satellite companies are called sharks
If Nova Eppegia( IPTV for Nova) costs $9.99 why does ELLAS TV cost $49.99?
I have been with Dish Network since 2001. I never had a problem with them and surely if MEGA had not made the worst mistake by leaving them we wouldn't be having this conversation to begin with and everyone would be happy.
And speaking of Dish Network for $24.99 you get all the channels you need, except MEGA of course but still with DVR capabilities and so on. So where is the "shark" part coming into this?
A Dish Techician could be in my house the next day, free of charge, and fix any technical problem I might have. Would you ever have a technician come out for support? When I called and mentioned the MEGA COSMOS issue, the answer I got was "Hm that's strange, I am watching it here and it works fine".
I am a software engineer and this is like saying to a Quality Assurance person that failed one of your items, "Oh it works on my computer". That's actually a inside developer's joke!
I can leave with the Receiver / Remote issues but the video/sound sync problem would have to be fixed. And please display the channel number currently selected on the receiver, or have a display button that shows some information on the screen at least!

Finally I gave up and order the EllasTV box. It should be comming any day now. I am getting rid of the Greek Elite Pack on Dish and The MEGA from Home2US. For the same money I can get the family pack and no 2nd dish on my yard.
They said they have the Greek channels at their regular time as well as with an 8 hour delay.

Excuse me, but Alter has been off the air since December. :unsure:Just to give you an idea we have Mega, Antenna, Et1, NET, Alpha, Skai, Alter, ...
-
If he plans to add this content but at the same time keep also the stuff that's already on there, then I myself don't have a problem w/ it. Newscasts in English would be great because for me I don't understand a lot of the things they say when it comes to economics and politics. I hated the fact that ANT1 pulled their English newscasts off the air a while back.It appears this guy is trying to Anglicize ERT World, he is talking about adding newscasts in English and airing shows with subtitles?! He states that ERT World should be like a bridge, whose purpose is to connect the omogenia with the motherland and the way to accomplish this is by air programming about tourism, culture and the economy- sounds to me like he wants to turn ERT World into some sort of cheap infomercial promoting Greece?! I think the channel is fine as is, they should add some programs specifically for the omogenia (which they did air at one point) and perhaps
a few comedies or dramas. Also, time to dust off their plan from a few years ago that called for the creation of 3 separate feeds for ERT World, where programming is aired according to the local timezone NOT local time in Greece.
I would not be in favour of adding English language programming and I am sure others feel the same. Most people who watch Greek TV do so to connect with their homeland AND to be able to watch Greek content NOT English.

ERT finally came to their senses.
Anyway one of the most exciting voting processes since I've been watching. For a while you didn't know who the winner would be but in the end it was Azerbaijan. Other "winners" tonight were Italy who returned after a 14 yr absence and captured 2nd place, Sweden who experienced technical problems during rehearsals captured 3rd, Ukraine was a surprise with 4th place (the sand artist helped) and last but not least,
-
Just FYI, ERT did it again. :nono: They did not broadcast the 2nd semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest on ERT World. You know, they could at least make some sort of announcement but I guess that's wishful thinking on my part. Thank goodness my brother-in-law subscribes to Russian programming (he's Ukrainian) and was able to DVR the contest on Channel 1 Russia World (channel 2140 on DirecTV). There's also the option of the live stream on eurovision.tv but doesn't work well if you're not home at the time. Anyway, let's see if ERT does anything on Saturday but from the looks of it probably not.
:gr:
-
They must have decided against broadcasting it on ERT World this year for some reason. All the news articles on their Eurovision site strangely do not mention ERT World. For example, check this out from their first semi-final report: "The contest was broadcast live by NET and ERT HD, within the framework of the state broadcaster
-
Does anyone know why ERT World preempted the broadcast of the 1st semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest yesterday?
-
The morning and midday shows were on as scheduled (Kafes me tin Eleni, Kous Kous, etc.). Was it just the journalists on strike? Eurovision is an entertainment show. One word STRIKE all channels yesterday were showing alternative programming as they were all on strike

Does anyone know why ERT World preempted the broadcast of the 1st semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest yesterday? They showed nothing but documentaries during its 3pm-530pm time slot. I tried calling ERT directly several times, but of course no one picks up the telephone. I don't know why it was preempted. It was listed on the program guide. Luckily for me, my sister is married to a Ukrainian and they subscribe to Russian programming. The unfortunate part was listening to the Russian commentary. Don't know a word they said. Anyway, if anybody has any info, please post. Thanks. :)
