  1. It won't come at Marseille. It just seems like this isn't the right environment for him to thrive. It doesn't help that OM is having a bad season. I hope I am mistaken and he turns his season around, but I can see him on loan at Olympiacos as soon as January, or a permanent move in the summer.
  2. Top-5 ever non-tournament moment for Greece. Turkey had just embarrassed us 4-1 at Karaiskakis on 25 Martiou. We, as a nation, needed to respond, and that response came in Istanbul. With the 1-0 win, we topped the group and automatically qualified for Euro 2008.

I really expected them to give him the next two games to save his job. This comes as a surprise to me. I am very happy to see EPO finally show that they mean business. Skibbe needed to go; not just because of the results, but even more so for the way the team looked on the pitch.
  4. Yes! Through-cross beating the offside trap. Added to the list.

Those are special generational players. Countries like France, Spain, Brazil, etc consistently produce world class players and out of those world class players come a handful of special ones like Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Neymar, etc. The reason why is that their country's sports culture, clubs, academies are so refined that they produce a high number of quality footballers. It has little to do with genetics. Greece has somewhat the culture, but the clubs and academies are nowhere near par.
  6. I was under the impression that all 4 groups are granted 1 automatic ticket to the Euro each.
  7. Samaras moments that will live forever: Assist to Amanatidis winning goal vs Turkey in revenge match to win the group and qualify for Euro 2008 Winning goal vs Croatia in Euro 2012 qualifier to win the group Goal vs Germany in Euro 2012 quarter finals Winning goal from the spot in stoppage time vs Ivory Coast in World Cup 2014 to send Greece to round of 16 Setting up Salpingidis goal in second leg of World Cup 2010 playoff vs Ukraine to qualify for the final tournament. (Thanks Alphonse) Did I forget anything?
  8. He was a big part of the NT, playing in huge games, scoring and setting up monumental goals. Shame how early and suddenly his career nosedived, but that does not belittle his accomplishments. In my opinion, definitely in Greece's post-2004 XI.
  9. Signed with Hibernian of the Scottish Premier League after impressing during a trial a few weeks back. Seems like it is only until January, with a team option to extend.
  10. I am very concerned as to how this team trains, because they look like it's their first time playing together. There is no chemistry or teamwork.
  11. We are gonna have the hardest group for Euro qualifying because how we will be ranked going into the group draw.
  12. It's how they lost. They can barely put two consecutive passes together and resort to those atrocious one-touches that end up with the other team taking possession 95% of the time.
  13. The worst part is that they were better than us individually and as a team, and tactically, and mentally. Skibbe is bad and many of our players are bad. This team has no idea how to play together which really exposes the players' flaws and creates more unforced errors in these last two matches than I have ever seen with any team in any league. They get beat to the ball and really have no answer to subpar opposition with players from unknown leagues.
  14. Now is the time he should throw him in but now will just have another below average isolated striker
  15. Tzioli loves the back pass and Mitroglou puts zero effort, looks like he's on the training ground.
  16. Mitroglous pretty bad too. No reason why he can't add anything to our attack unless he is spoon fed the ball.
