  1. Donis out for the playoffs. Bring on Mantalo and his importent playing style. This trash luck we have is unbelievable.
  2. We need to start playing out strength with a 3 CB formation. We even have the perfect wing backs for this formation yet Skibbe is so reluctant to try it.
  3. We are so deep at CB that he never gets called up. Sokratis, Manolas, KPap, Retsos (that can also step in at RB), Tziolis (who was tried in this position last match). Siovas would just take a roster spot of a player in another position that has more chance of playing. If Manolas is not ready for the playoffs, I can see Greece calling him up though.
  4. We need to stay in form and healthy. Manolas has to be ready, he is expected to return Nov. 6, which is cutting it close and I have a feeling they will leave him out. Hopefully Karelis will be in form to backup Mitro. Donis has to start but I don't see it happening. Zeca will be one of the likely 3 DMs we will start alongside Tziolis and Samaris. I don't agree with it but this is what we will probably see: Karnezis Torosidis Sokratis Papadopoulos Tzavellas Zeca Tziolis Samaris Mantalos Fortounis Mitroglou This is what I'd like to see though: Karnezis Torosidis Sokratis Manolas Stafylidis Zeca Samaris Tachtsidis Fortounis Donis Mitroglou I also wish we could field a 3 CB formation but that's beyond pushing it with this manager.
  5. Anyone know why he wasn't in the squad last matchday?
  6. Greece v Croatia positionally: GK: Karnezis (Watford) v Subasic (Monaco): Once your keeper is a certain class, as both these keepers are, it is hard to distinguish an edge even though the latter has more playing time at a top club. I would call this a draw. Both players will do their job at a high level. Defense: Sokratis, Manolas, Papadopoulos, Torosidis, Retsos, Stafylidis, Tzavellas > Lovren, Vida, Mitrovic, Vrsaljko, Pivaric Midfield: Samaris, Zeca, Tachtsidis, Fortounis, Mantalos, Tziolis < Modric, Rakitic, Badelj, Perisic, Rog Attack: Mitroglou, Donis, Karelis, Gianniotas, Lazaros = Mandzukic, Kramaric, Cop
  7. Belgium: 9 wins, 1 draw, 0 losses / 43 GF, 6 GA Croatia (with a slightly deeper group but no powerhouse): 6 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses / 15 GF, 4 GA Greece (in a group with with powerhouse Belgium): 5 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss / 17 GF, 6 GA There is an evident gap between Belgium and Croatia and Greece gave Belgium their toughest matches since Euro 2016 that could have easily ended in a win and a draw. Greece and Croatia look very evenly matched.
  8. That's fine since 0-0 and 1-0 scorelines are what we usually see from Greece no matter who we play...
  9. You got the last one mixed up there. It was actually 2-0 for Croatia.
  10. In its current state, Croatia look to be the 3rd strongest seeded team behind Italy and Switzerland. They finished runners up to a mediocre Iceland team in a deep group I, but without a superpower. Then again, Croatia was supposed to be that superpower but failed to take control. As for us, we put ourselves in this position and can't expect an easy draw. Let us hope our stars stay healthy, in form and Manolas recovers on time.
  11. OK be careful you're gonna be people a heart attack with things like that.
  12. This goal will give him confidence as well as his manager confidence in him. Great debut.
  13. The ranking format applies to everyone but it is very flawed and does not take into account recent form. It is ridiculous that Greece is ranked 47th; they should easily be 20 spots up.
  14. This is going to be a hot topic in these forums once it kicks off and it deserves a fresh new thread.
  15. Fun-fact, out of our potential playoff opponents, only Christian Eriksen (8) has more goals than Mitroglou (6).
  16. Athens won't be one of them, they already alluded to cities that will be involved.
  17. What a joke we are in pot C with some minnows like Albania, Israel and Lithuania, while teams that couldn't even make playoffs like Turkey, Bosnia and Austria are in B.
  18. Based on world rankings. 4 highest ranked teams in POT A drawn up vs POT B.
