  1. They are meaningless games! The team doesn't have players which means injuries and cards cannot be afforded, it's completely understandable under the circumstances. 3 of the players you mentioned are doing the team a favor agreeing to a 30 day extension, why would they risk injury considering they will be looking for contracts once the season is over. I understand your frustration but I'm really surprised at the way you guys are reacting.

  3. This group of guys is just playing out the season. What happens the rest of these pointless games should be be of no concern to us, will we have a team next year should be.

For the PAE to start making public statements I’m worried that things aren’t looking good.
  5. I have only watched AEK the last couple of weeks and must say they have impressed me, doesn’t really mean anything just an observation. My question is how are they so far behind OSFP, and PAOK for that matter (before subtracted points), in the standings? They have some very good individuals on that roster. Today’s result isn’t surprising given how the two have been performing since play resumed.
  6. About time someone from management stepped up. https://www.metrosport.gr/oxi-stin-apaksiwsi-kai-ston-midenismo-ftanei-i-mizeria-266001
  7. The rest of the season for Aris is a formality since there is nothing to play for. What should be of concern to us is how the team got to another low point and where do they go from here. If the ruling against transfers came down in November when was the team informed? Was it immediate but they brushed aside because they felt the law was on their side and weren’t concerned? Was it two months later as they claim? If the latter is true then how concerned do Aris fans need to be with a governing body that is either incredibly inept or worse intentionally trying to hurt you. There is something very troubling with this situation and I’m not sure why Aris fans aren’t up in arms over it. The team’s immediate future is uncertain but the people in charge appear to be a little too nonchalant about it which scares me given how this attitude has gotten them in trouble before. Unless of course they know something we don’t. You would think the pandemic is as unique as it gets but when you’re an Aris fan there is never a dull moment and unfortunately it’s usually more unpleasant than not.
  8. It’s my understanding that the transfer ban is a combo of past debt and the Durmishaj transfer this past January so the CAS hearing will be crucial. The past debt does not need to be paid off in full as long as the sides come to an agreement.
  9. Aris came to terms with Matilla, Gama, and Korhut so they will remain with the team throughout the playoffs.
  10. That’s what I thought as well because it just seems logical but I guess not.
  11. It is an absolute disaster and for the life of me I don’t understand how they can make any deals (Fetfa transfer, contract agreements with players) when the ban is still in place. Right now for the game against PAO the following players are available because they are still under contract not counting Deli who was red carded: Ehman, Rose, Sundgren, Duarte, two young Greek kids, Martinez and Mancini. Apparently Diamandopoulos agreed to a 20 day extension to finish the playoffs and they are trying to do the same with Tonso and Ba. Cuesta, Matilla, and Gama are asking for more money and everyone else will be done tomorrow. @almand, they are not allowed to use players from the U19 team because of the ban.
  12. I don’t see much quality or quantity on this roster. Hard workers for sure but only a couple of difference makers. I recently read an article in which Nafti stated the most pressure he felt as a player was his years at Aris because the fan base had unreasonable expectations. You say we have the 5th best roster, not sure how you came to this conclusion but let’s assume that for arguments sake, the team finished in a tie for fifth which means they met expectations. I’d be willing to bet that the teams below us did not have the same pressure Aris coaches and players had and the team accomplished what was expected with bad summer planning and an inability to make some corrections in January. Say what you will but Oenning did a fantastic job with a total of 13 - 14 players. That in my opinion is remarkable.

I have read a couple of articles and the amount Aris will receive is just north of 1.5 million, the 5 million I believe is what Fetfa's 3 year contract will be worth.
  14. We could keep talking about this forever and nothing will change, in my opinion Oenning took a mediocre no depth roster further than most coaches would have while in your opinion he failed miserably with a good roster. Let's just agree to disagree and move on, besides Aris has some serious issues that need to be resolved otherwise the conversation next year this time will be far more bleak.
  15. You can't just dismiss the roster with a simple it is what is. It's a bad roster plain and simple so the fact that Aris finished 6th and consequently made it to Europe while still staying on track in the cup is a tremendous accomplishment. The team had a game plan and it was the correct one given the many weaknesses. Gama and Fefta are the only two players on the team that can create so I'm not sure what the point you are making is, all teams rely on their creative players to score goals, AEK had more of those that's for sure. The only obvious thing in my opinion is that Oenning was excellent in managing this limited roster.
  16. I've answered many times, he took a crap roster and worked wonders!! If you give a chef cow dung he might be able to spice it up with basil and oregano but it's still manure at the end of the day. He had us with one foot in the final, he got us to the playoffs with a roster of 13 to 14 players and not because he destroyed them but because they weren't good enough. As fans we tend to overvalue our players, if you really look at the difference between the two squads there is nothing to complain about. I applaud him and am glad that he is back.
  17. Pound for pound Oenning was coach of the year in the SL for taking this roster as far as he did!! As for the yesterday's game everything he did was correct, we just got beat by a better team. I believe two or three of their players make more than the entire Aris roster. I've been complaining about Ideye myself but yesterday he was very important giving the team "anases" as they say by being awarded plenty of fouls and holding the ball with his ability to hold off defenders because he is strong "gia na anevi i omada". Starting the Swede over Mancini was also smart because the youngster wouldn't have been as effective against AEK early on while their players were still fresh. He threw him in at the right time and it showed. I keep hearing about Martinez but Oenning is the third coach to not give him many minutes, not the first. Every player that came in played hard there was zero evidence of discontent. What this man has been able to accomplish with a depleted roster being handcuffed with ban's, unpaid players lousy summer transactions can only be characterized as remarkable. Once again pound for pound coach of the year.
  18. Unfortunately I was wrong in thinking a possible deal between the two teams could have been struck. I guess I can’t blame AEK since the quality they have on their team is superior to that of the Aris roster. I completely disagree with you guys blaming everything on the coach, I believe the only reason we even came close to advancing was because of him and that goes for making the playoffs as well. Our roster is very weak this is obvious so hats off to him for getting the team this far. The last three months I’ve been listening to a lot of radio from Salonica since I have time on my hands and it’s funny that the only negative things about the German coach are said in these forms. Of course all opinions are welcomed and respected but I can’t see how you can blame the guy given the roster this team has. From my perspective kudos to the team for a valiant effort that brought them oh so close to the final. For the record, and I know this means nothing now, the second half of the first leg should have never been played given what happened during halftime. Not sure if we would’ve been awarded the game or not but definitely should not have been played. Rey, I don’t know that comparing Matilla to those players is fair. Those guys were all two way tough guys, Matilla is mostly an offensive finesse guy. Thoughts?

  20. Better safe than sorry!!
  21. Very difficult for Aris to advance as AEK are the better side. Not only did they finish comfortably ahead of us in the standings but in the four games between the two teams AEK beat us twice and the other two ended in draws. In other words Aris has not beaten them this year and that is exactly what is needed this Wednesday. I'm not saying it's impossible but once again very difficult, so let's not completely rule out what I originally said in a previous thread about a nice little agreement between the two sides. I believe AEK has more incentive now assuming of course they value second place and playing in the CL playoffs more than winning the Cup. Leaving that theory aside and looking at the match up straight up from the Aris perspective, things look bleak. What concerns me most is our central defenders and how bad they have looked since games started again. It goes without saying that the loss of Velez is huge coupled with that of Souza who might play but at what percentage. I have zero confidence in Deli who has to play I guess by default, and prefer Rose on the right as he is very good there but might have to move in the middle although the possibility of Ba playing there is possible if Sundgren has burned bridges so much that management will not allow our coach to use him. This all becomes even more crucial since keeping a clean sheet will be key. Sad thing is this talk is anticlimactic because if the ban is not lifted we have no idea what the future holds.
  22. Great goal by Martinez!! He did everything exactly the correct way to redirect the ball and send it in the net.
