What really bothered me is that Skibbe was seconds from subbing Mitroglou for Koulouris. His midfield was once again impotent and gave Mitro no service at all, yet Skibbe opted to sub in a lesser striker to receive the same service. Both Tziolis and Koulouris decisions were scary bad, all while Lazaro and Fetfa were on the bench. Skibbe just seems to be reading the game wrong.

Disappointing display and amongst other things, way too many unforced errors. Hope we don't play on the back-foot again vs Finland, who won their game today in stoppage time.

First half was crappy indeed. Kourbelis was bad, Bakasetas worse. Pelkas did nothing. No wonder Mitroglou was invisible for a long time, Fortounis had to help the defenders yet he was the only one who was sometimes threatening. Before the second half, when I saw Tziolis standing beside the fourth official I literally buried my face. To be fair, he was not that bad. He won several headers and his performance was better than that of Kourbelis. Tsimikas was really great with that cross before the goal and a single chance was enough for Mitroglou. Excellent finish though, he towered over that defender. Last 25 minutes were shaky but our defensive display wasnt half bad. We even had several opportunities (Papastathopoulos, Christodoulopoulos) but we couldnt score. And in the last minute came Bakasetas (the single really crap player in the starting XI which was okay btw). But for the referee, he would have given a penalty away. This guy must be kicked out of the squad. Some days ago I thought even Aravidis (who plays for OFI now) would be a better squad inclusion than this guy. He cannot score. He gives away too many balls (think of the yellow card of Sokratis). He is slow. He cant make any dribbles. His focus is below average. Barkas 6 - Bakakis 6, Manolas 7, Papastathopoulos 8, Tsimikas 6.5 - Zeca 5.5, Fortounis 6, Kourbelis 4.5 (Tziolis 5.5, 46th) - Bakasetas 3.5, Mitroglou 6 (Bouchalakis 0, 93rd), Pelkas 4 (Christodoulopoulos 5.5, 78th).

Slowness is a big problem. Not only with our individual players, but with team pace and distribution. We always seem to slow down the pace to an almost still level by taking too much time with the ball. Which, in turn, makes it very easy for opponents to close us down, leaving the lazy, momentum-killing, back-pass as the only viable option. This happens way, way more often than it should.

The slowness is what kills the team. Fetfatzidis is miles more talented than Bakasetas it's just that Fetfatzidis has always had problems with finishing. Also this team has a massive problem with finishing. Tsimikas I think could add something more in attack than Lykogiannis. Mantalos should have been expiriemnted already as an 8. But Skibbe plays him on the wing. Galanopoulos will play there sooner rather than later. I like Zeca for the pressure he puts and can play sometimes. Fortounis is our Ozil. Controls the game with his movement and passing he looked like he didn't do that well. Even he is slow at times. Fetfatzidis will give us a more energetic and creative option on the wing who can play their. I agree about Mantalos as an 8.

Probably one of the worst performances. I didn't see 1st half but 2nd wasn't that great either. We are lucky to have the defence we have. Bakaksetas is useless it's not funny. He might be in form but has no talent. Talent over form anyday. You can tell Fortounis is the most talented in the team. Tsimikas I though did ok 2nd half. Good assist he had. Mitroglou needs to play with another striker upfront. There are no options when we attack and Mitroglou doesn't move that much.

Whatever happens, I think our best 11 is slowly coming into place. From these 11, how many would you change? Bakesetas and Kourbellis are the two that you would take out. Tsimakas (was necessary with Staf/Retsos out) could be removed as well but not a priority. Barkas is fine for now, you can make an argument for Giannotis or even Vlacho (Karnezis hasn't been starting) but he is fine.

to be fair kourbelis was looking sloppy and unfocused. Tziolis was better tsimikas made some errors at first and then became one of our best players. Mitroglou kudos finishing on his few chances. we need Donis, Samaris to get back in form. To a lesser degree Stafylidis too but i'm really like Tsimikas right now. Dude was all over the place and takes responsibility.

Bakasetas is the worst player on the field followed closely by kourbelis and pelkas. Bring on fetfatzidis and lazaros

Good lineup, just defend better and attack more

it was a defensive masterclass overall. 3/4 on yellow cards by 20th minute and remained steady. Sokratis getting all ball multiple times in the box with slides people say we don't play pretty but defense is an art as well and I was entertained. of course i'm biased cuz i'm a ethiniki fanboy though. i'm used too our heart attack games literally went down to the wire. gerasa 10 xronia

You were more generous with the defenders. After all, you may be right. They didnt concede and saved Skibbes ass and our asses. Barkas was indeed very solid. He caught everything: crosses, free kicks, shots. There were no rebounds.

nice idea Barkas 8 (clean sheet) - Bakakis 8, Manolas 8, Papastathopoulos 9, Tsimikas 8 - Zeca 5, Fortounis 7, Kourbelis 4 (Tziolis 7, 46th) - Bakasetas 4, Mitroglou 8 (Bouchalakis 0, 93rd), Pelkas 4 (Christodoulopoulos 7, 78th). it was a good defensive display. our midfield barely offered any chield till tziolis went in so considering hungary was rawdogging us all night you gotta give our backline credit and also our fullbacks for being the main attacking threat. bakakis winning headers out there it's a clean sheet win. i'm happy

I also agree that Skibbe's bad tactics and formation is the reason why players like Pelkas and Kourbelis don't perform that well in the national team as they for their clubs. That's on the coach.

totally forgot about fetfa. he should be starting and then laz super sub and teams wont know what hit them. I don't totally hate skibbe. he's conservative but he's slowly making the right decisions lol

Tzimikas played well... negatives.. Fortounis had a poor game by his standards Bakasetas was awful, lacks simple control and almost cost us a penalty at the end Skibbe subs, subbing in Tziolis although to be fair to him he was good for a change

through ball to mitro could have been a goal but at least he has the balls and can hit the target. selfish trait in fifa definitely deserved lol

Lazaros had a nice shot and was good save.he was running his arse off and battling for the ball.

Good news we won and a win is a win.. The bad and concerning news is that after that horrible first have the only change Skibbe thought was necessary to get the team going was taking off Kourbelis and bringing in Tziolis, How was that going to get us going offensively?? especially when we needed to score?? I'm glad we won but this was not a good performance.. Shitty that Finland scored in the 88th minute..

so happy bakakis and tsimikas got the start. we can actually get the ball foward from the flanks now and they're engines. Lazaros was a great super sub. Creating dangerous chances / stealing balls Tziolis impact sub to shut the game down is actually working. He also saved our asses. As long as he starts I don't mind him shutting the game down if he plays like this. Sokratis saved our asses so many times too with timely tackles but that's Sokratis.

Not a fan of hoofball but at this point, put three guys in box and just kick it to them and wait for Hungary to make a mistake. This team is incapable of playing possession up the middle.

Simply painful to watch this team who was no tactically or strategically ready to play this match and who is completely unsure of itself in everything it does. This leads to lazy back passes, second on the ball, no pressure, slow pace to build up, too much holding the ball, long balls to nowhere and impotent attacks. Sad to see Greece NT in this state. Bakasetas and Fortounis are useless. I'd like to see what Fetfa can do. At least he may give a jolt to this sleeping lineup.

I thought he was very good in the Cup game in Toumba. Held his position, made Bisheswar look fat, slow and stupid (and the one before him cant remember who it was), and SHOULD have scored as well. What Fortounis lacks in speed he makes up with his shot, his passing, his vision and his set piece delivery. He's our best player and at some point in the near future I'm sure he will be moving on to a bigger club in the EPL or LA LIGA which I think would suit him best.
