  1. More exclusive footage of Savvidis in Toumba....doesn't look good for us guys:

  2. Bullshit. As soon as the incident happened you have been saying that PAOK should be relegated

  3. Well said @SydneyPAOK Greek football has been a mess for years, longer than I've been following it. You can go through every season and pinpoint clubs/individuals who have harmed Greek football. Unfortunately for us Savvidis adopted the motto if you can't beat them join them. And many people in Greece say, you can't win the league if you don't have the refs/EPO in your pocket. It's a sad reality of football in our country. What Savvidis did was immature and crossed the line, but it's stuff that's happened before. And will continue to happen. Nothing will change, not in our lifetimes anyway. Greece as a country needs to be knocked down and built again. I guess a few weeks ago Warda threatened himself with a gun?

  4. Most PAOK supporters aren't denying accountability or punishment for PAOK. I am not excusing what happened yesterday. I am not sure how long you have been following Greek football for but i can tell you that Greek football has been plagued with corruption and fan violence. It hasn't all of a sudden become all this since yesterday and i disagree with you that PAOK f**ed Greek football. And by the way injustices of the past can be addressed today. Any crime committed in history can be dealt with today so not sure why we cant go back in time. It also allows an outsider or someone new to Greek football ( im guessing you) to understand the mentality. Its very easy to pounce on the event that just unfolded and make PAOK look like the worst club on the face of the earth. It actually highlights how much other clubs in Greece NEED a scapegoat. 3 weeks ago AEK officially asked for Greek football to be suspended until court cases were resolved. Now all of a sudden AEK fans are up in arms complaining that the league has been suspended as this punishes all clubs not PAOK. Hypocrites. AEK fans slammed PAOK for winning the Cup final in 2017 for a goal that was scored from an offside position labelling PAOK cheats and accusing Savvidis of running Greek football. Do you not recall 2011??? Let me remind you what Atromitos owner said "This took Greek soccer back at least 100 years" AEK won the cup today because it had to win. Everyone saw what circumstances we had to play in?". AEK fans also stormed the pitch that day and clashed with police and ATTACKED Atromitos players. This has all been forgotten now and PAOK are the culprits of the mess in Greek Soccer according to you. Panathinaikos fans are demanding PAOK be relegated yet their club has not been relegated like Iraklis for being in debt. Hypocrites. Olympiakos fans are labeling Savvidis as a corrupt owner who has influence over the Greek Super League yet its ok and all forgotten that their owner has been that for 20 years. Its all forgotten that he is involved in match fixing. They want to label Savvidis a gangster for carrying a pistol yet police found tonnes of heroin on one of his ships. Hypocrites Again I am NOT excusing what Savvidis did last night. It was STUPID and should be punished 100%, BUT don't come here and act like your team are angels and that Greek football was a church before events that have occurred at TOUMBA. Greece is a mess for a reason and so is Greek soccer. It needs a royal commission an a massive overhaul of management

  5. I think you're missing the forest for the trees. Yes, the things in Toumba are not acceptable, but they are all connected in the bigger web of issues in Greek soccer in general. You say a "PAOK chairman invaded the pitch carrying a gun and threatened the reff and Dimitriadis." The threats are alleged for one, and second the gun is circumstantial. Again, it was stupid that he carries it. No one is arguing with you on that. But let's not forget that no one even knew about the gun until it was posted by NOVA later. Would you still have the same attitude if there was no gun? If so, then why are you not up in arms for when Theodoridis, and Olympiakos chairman, stormed the pitch and demanded his team leave the pitch? Like I said, I am fine with throwing the book at PAOK, but make sure to thoroughly clean up the rest of Greek soccer too. Savvidis isn't the problem, his behaviour is just a symptom. If we don't fix it from top-bottom, then we will have the same conversation in a few months. Cycle, rinse and repeat.

  6. The issue honestly isn't even if it is a legit goal or not. We all know it's a tough call.....but the referee and linesman both confirmed it was a goal. Then they said it wasn't. THEN they lied in the match report saying they called it offside.

  7. I agree with your comment 100% regarding Savvidis, being on the pitch. However, saying that this alone is the problem in Greek football is like saying the assassination of Franz Ferdinand caused World War I. It's a lazy argument, and if we treat it as an individual problem, then we will never fix Greek soccer. Punish Savvidis, and punish PAOK - yes, I agree to this. But I also want a proper public inquiry carried out by a foreign third party to investigate WHY these things happen in Greek soccer. You can write an entire thesis about the issues of corruption, and preferential treatment. Yet in typical lazy Greek journalism, all cling to the gun sighting. Yes, it's horrendous, but focussing solely on a weapon that was never drawn distracts from the greater problem. Savvidis was very clear about wanting to take the team off the pitch. He stormed the pitch and acted like a child. It sounds extremely similar to how Theodoridis, Olympiacos' vice president, acted to weeks ago. Except, he picked up his team because a paper roll hit the coach. Why hasn't anyone drawn that comparison? As for the gun, we should ask, why does the owner of a team need to carry one when he already has body guards? Do we honestly think he carries it to shoot down people that disagree with him? If he is a Mafia leader, then he must not be a good one as I am pretty certain they are better at getting others to do their own dirty work. Besides, if he is so corrupt, why publicly threaten the ref in front of literally millions of eyes? Wouldn't he be better off doing that in a more discreet way? Or does he carry the gun for protection? Here's a guy who has forced himself into an already corrupt system and he has ruffled many feathers trying to change the establishment. You don't think he's created new enemies? Heck, a few years ago, Marinakis ordered military style helipcopters to patrol Toumba out of fear that fans may do something to him. And he got his way - as if Greece were a military state! And our issue is that a team owner carries a pistol? Again not condoning publicly walking around with a firearm, but I hope people are better at asking the tough questions than the journalists. There are thousands of problems in Greek society and soccer. Like I said, throw the book at PAOK and Savvidis. They earned it. But if we don't take wider action to investigate the true root cause for all this conflict then there will be other such events in the league, and we will never fix the issues. This is an opportunity to finally make things right. Public Inquiry now!

  8. I think emotions are running a bit high here for some people. We should all take a step back and re-evaluate the direction of this discussion. We're all Greek and want a strong, competitive Super League right? I get it that we're all just some randoms on an internet forum but things in Greek soccer get way too tribalistic for its own good, and I'm seeing it play out right now

  10. You guys wrote great posts and forgive me if I duplicate your thoughts. All those who are "crying" again for the bad PAOK, would do the same thing in any case. If the horrible referee would count the goal and PAOK had won 1-0, you would crying that PAOK is the halifi because the three points were returned to us. You would find a way to continue the propaganda against PAOK. Because no one of you can tolerate PAOK winning the championship. AEK fans... Remember some shootings twenty years ago inside your members club. Panathinaikos fans... Remember your own president back in the day... Olympiakos fans... No need to say anything. Savvidis did not threaten AEK players and his bodyguards were trying to cool him down. No one attacked the p u s s i e s who were entering the field from the very first minute of the game. PAOK lost from AEK in OAKA 1-0 in the details and AEK would lose in Toumba in the details. But of course someone has to continue the circus so PAOK does not get this championship. And by the way, Lyberopoulos scored offside goal in the cup final in 2011. This was not a petsino cup? But last year's PAOK cup is a petsino cup, right? And then you want us to take you seriously. Καλά έκανε και σε πηδούσε ο Ολυμπιακός όσα χρόνια έπαιζες μπάλα βλαχόμαγκα Λυμπερόπουλε που τώρα θα μας το παίξεις και Παναγία. Araujo could have scored? Yes! As Prijovic could have scored in the first game in OAKA and have the match finish 1-1. PAOK lost from Olympiakos 1-0 without being worse than them. In fact we had better chances than Olympiakos. But, PAOK is not allowed to win neither Olympiakos or AEK in Toumba. It's a crime to win them and it's a crime to win the championship. That's the story for me. And Savvidis has to explain himself only to PAOK fans (as he did) and not to the mafiozoi Melissanidis, or Marinakis, or anyone else from the corrupted football system.

  11. Nobody threatened anybody with a gun and I even question if there was a verbal abuse by Savvidis. That's just media controlled by POK team(s) and political parties frenzy the last two days. The issue is political and economical. Ever since Savvidis took over PAOK and started investing in northern Greece. And you are right jvc. The league will be sabotaged on weekly basis. Greek football has been sick for decades, but suspending the season for few weeks and then restarting it will accomplish absolutely nothing unless drastic changes are made. UEFA/FIFA came to Greece to solve the issue after the Undersecretary of Sports called them in. If they decide to punish PAOK selectively as is pushed by the Athenian media, then once again nothing will be accomplished. It needs to be a collective punishment for it to have any effect.

  12. If his gun is licensed, what's the issue? For the majority of his time on the field it was concealed. It was out only when his jacket came off, but I still haven't seen any video of him with his jacket off, only the 3-4 pictures that are circulating. When you carry a gun everyday of your life (which he probably does) you don't remember you even have half the time.

  13. I don't know much about Savvidis, other than he's close to Putin and that he's been investing a lot of money into Greece/Thessaloniki. I thought he would be better than what he showed on Sunday, but what's done is done. Hopefully he learns from his mistake, isn't forced to sell the team and is able to work with the rest of the owners/EPO to create a better product on and off of the field. I was pulling for PAOK to take home the protathlima this year as well since I've become a bit of a fan of theirs ever since I visited Thessa. Oh well, maybe next year.

  14. Γειά σας παιδιά, My home internet went down ironically on the night of the game and I only got it back this afternoon. Thank you Telstra. I have been following this thread on my phone. I hadn't bothered to reply since I find typing on a phone akin to torture. I did though check the score on my phone (livescore.com) and I saw "Int" next to the game. Being a computer programmer, my mind first went to "int: In many major programming languages, an int is a 32-bit signed integer.". But surely this had to be something different. I thought oh well, the fans have rioted again and rolled over and went back to sleep. How wrong I was. § One thing I can't understand is the calling for PAOK the club to be punished. I find this bizarre and egregious. Only one person should be punished and that is Savvidis. Did the PAOK players do anything wrong ? If anything they behaved honourably. Should all their hard work this season be thrown away because of the actions of Savvidis ? Did the fans do anything wrong on this occasion ? Should their dream of winning a championship for the first time since 1985 be dashed due to the actions of Savvidis ? Too many are too quick to jump the gun. But PAOK must be punished people will claim. Otherwise how will they learn ? Superficially, this feels right. But it's not. It's the wrong course. It'll just lead to more anger in the long run. Keep beating that kid till he learns. Yeah sure, that'll work. Would giving PAOK -3, -6 or however many points deduction teach Savvidis a lesson ? Yeah sure, it would. But you're still basically issuing a collective punishment on all the squad and all the fans. It's not fair. It's not right. It's not just. They did nothing wrong ... on this occasion. Or maybe we should revert to the ways of the old testament where the sins of the father are punished for 7 generations ? Sounds about right for Greece actually. This is the course that leads to players wanting to leave Greece. This is the course that leads to fans becoming disillusioned and embittered. Because punishing PAOK the club is nothing short of a collective punishment. If anyone thinks this will teach anyone a lesson it won't. If it were up to me I would ban Savvidis from attending any games for 1 full season and issue a fine for 1 million euros. In addition, a new law should be passed where if a president steps onto the pitch for any reason whatsoever, the same punishment will be meted out. This to me seems ... fair. Savvidis was the one who did wrong so he should be punished. Not the players and not the fans.

  15. What point? I have admitted that my team needs to be punished for the actions of Savvidis. You though have not manned up. I dont see you calling out aek the way the players and management behaved by manhandling and verbally abusing the officials until the decision was overturned.

  18. The thing is that the olympiakos fans rioting on the pitch in Karaiskaki after the aek match was grabbing all the media attention. Now that PAOK has been involved in events does that mean you sweep that incident under the carpet? Should other fan riots/disturbances not be looked at either where fans and police have been injured across other teams? What about corruption of the last 20 years where there are match fixing allegations and scandals, refeering decisions favouring one team, club owners storming dressing rooms, other cup finals won in dubious circumstances, clubs with debts not being punished. Why should all these things be ignored? In all honestly why should aek players get away with man handling the officials? PAOK should be punished but so should other clubs. A royal commission of the entire greek superleague needs to occur where every single club and all football bodies are investigated.

  19. Ok i have watched the video of the goal/no goal . Man i have to say that is a tough one. Wow as a referee i am still hard pressed to make a decision even after the benefit of instant replay. Ok so after watching it a few times i have to come up with this decision and even im not sure if im right but i will show it to other refs i know to see what they say. Yes the player in question is in an offside position when the ball is headed . Now he somehow manages to not touch the ball so now we have to say is he blocking or obstructing the goalkeeper in away after the ball was headed. Im saying No he was off to the side and not really anywhere near the goalkeeper . I would have to say that this is a VALID GOAL. And again i could be wrong another ref can interpret it differently. The fact these guys don't have the benefit of instant replay it is a really difficult decision to make. I do not think there is other forces influencing there decision on why they flip flopped the call , it was just that a really tough call to make .

  20. my 2c - that's a goal every day of the week - generally around the world the refs don't card enough players for invading their personal space, starting handing them out like lollies and the mofos will run like cockroaches - last time I checked this was the PAOK section of the site, it's not our fault the AEK and PAO sections are virtual wastelands, don't come in here trolling. Come in, have your say once and then leave it. If you think we are delusional, fine, you read it the way you want and see yourselves out. - PAOKtzides, relax. We have eff all control of the situation now that we are under the thumb of a russian mobster, let's enjoy the highlights, the club is not what it once was and likely never will be again, between senior, junior, the hooligans, EPO and the athenian teams we are unlikely to win a title, but we will have better teams than we had through most of the nineties and early 2000's

  21. Horrible 1st half, better 2nd. Result on the scoreboard doesn't show our easy victory actually. Still a lot of stuffs to do up front until the end of the season. And yes, Dounis made a difference pretty much.

  22. So the ref and linesman calling a goal.... THEN taking away the goal 2 minutes later after pressure from AEK players/officials and THEN allegedly (according to the ref) preparing to give the goal BACK to the home team, mere seconds before Savvidis got onto the pitch bears no responsibility for this fiasco? The referees in Greece are a disgrace. I'm not taking any blame away from Savvidis, but let's not lose sight of what started this entire thing to begin with.

  23. The season was going good because there was a change in the EPO leadership, which was not controlled by Olympiakos as in the past. As a result Superleague became competitive and other teams finally had a good chance of contending for the title. Seeing that they lost control they decided to sabotage the whole thing.
    1 point
  24. Either way, this incident has escalated internationally. FIFA and UEFA have both said they will be watching the outcomes of EPO's decision. I believe UEFA will be helping with implementing the verdict/new sporting legislation. The truth is the constant invading and hooliganism involved in the derbies is ruining the game. Something has to be done to ruin what otherwise has been a good season for the Superleague.

  25. PAOK is not the innocent party here. It's a very small part of the overall problem in Greek football and Greek society. This whole issue has political overtones written all over it.

  26. Let's not forget that half the aek team man handled the ref and linesman like animals for a solid 5mins until the goal was overruled. They ref should have started issuing yellow or red cards to disrburse the aek players as well as the 4th ref sending the aek bench into the dressing room. Then the game would have continued
    1 point
  27. I don't disagree with that, and he should be punished accordingly. The fact is that the game was progressing without any problems until it was decided by the ref to steal the game from PAOK. Had the ref stuck with his original decision we would not have all this hysteria right now. I have been watching the videos of the whole incident over and over since yesterday, and I am convinced that the offside call was reversed by the fourth official who was 50 meters away after he was attacked by Lyberopoulos and the entire AEK bench. Just my opinion.

  28. The ref's account of the goal in the match report clearly show that he is a liar. The video shows completely different timeline of the events. We can now expect a modified match report. It's becoming a habit.

  29. I beg to disagree with this comment. The knowledge that he was carrying a gun became known way after the shouting incident. During the whole incident he was wearing a jacket and the concealed weapon was not visible to anyone. The claim that he threatened the ref with the gun is just misleading and it is just a propaganda spread by people that have anti-PAOK bias. Same thing with Michel. We are just hearing one side of the story. Watching the video it appears that he is telling the ref that the game is finished and not that HE is finished. I watched the video few times and all I can see is Savvidis and Michel storming the field to take the team and leave the field. Thankfully this did not happen due to Vieirinha's actions stopping him from doing so. Was it wrong for Savvidis (and Michel) storming the field? Yes, but in no way there was Savvidis and his bodyguards terrorizing the ref and AEK players. For that he and Michel should be punished accordingly.

  36. I carry a gun everywhere I go...does that mean everyone I talk to is being threatened? Anyways....The entire league is a $hitshow. I think AEK is the LEAST responsible for the state of it all THIS season (although, their hands are plenty dirty historically). PAO financial incompetance, PAOKs fans/media/front office's behavior is unacceptable on the high school level of sports in a 3rd world country, let alone a supposedly "Professional" League. Olympiakos' share of the kourada is well known and documented (regardless of Savvidis and Karapaparas crying week in and week out claiming to be victims of "Paranga and Xounta). Honestly, we've reached the point where Greece SHOULD be kicked out of all European Competition for 3-5 years. The fact the League can even be in talks for TV rights with a pay channel is crazy.

  37. Yes, you are absolutely right in that the Greek league is indeed a circus. And of course, it would be much better if Greece had the same standards and the same mentality that Canada has. Well, at least if you like Greece to become more orderly that is, since some do prefer the Balkanic mentality and do not want that Greece becomes more westernized. If we had every season a fair competition without any violence, hate and θέατρο etc pp. and just could focus on the sport we love to see. This would be indeed much more enjoyable I think. However, I do not believe that Greece is able to pull that off and become a more civilized country. Maybe things are going to be better in the future, but I would not bet on that. Greek society needs to change its mentality in order to solve the majority of issues this country is dealing with right now. Regarding football, away fans are not even allowed in stadiums anymore, because we could actually have some bloodbaths there. This is not the standard of a western country. We are a Zougla compared to countries like Canada, seeing how much hate there is. I mean, yes, I dislike Olympiakos and its practices for example, but I would not want to harm any Olympiakos fan or team member physically because of that, though some people in Greece have a different view about this and prefer to have επεισόδια. Those are the ones who should not be allowed entry into the stadiums anymore. And I am not only talking about PAOKtsides here, the fans of all the other Greek clubs have a lot of troublemakers as well. I'd say that hate and violence is the main problem in Greek football. Of course some will now say that corruption is also an issue, but considering this season, I think the situation has become much more even in comparison to the last 20 years. Although, I do not know how the situation in the lower leagues is.
